Born on 1 May 2000 in Benin City, 25-year-old Divine Edukor already has 30 million monthly listeners on Spotify and over 1.7 billion streams since the release of his first self-produced EP in 2019 and his viral hit ‘Dumebi’. Swiftly signed to Jonzing/Mavin, he is credited with inventing Afrorave, a subtle blend of Afrobeats, trap, pop, and Indian and Arabic grooves. It was ‘Calm Down’ in 2022 that catapulted him to stardom, reaching number three on the Billboard 100 chart. Barack Obama included the song ‘Yayo’, from the album Rave & Roses, in his summer 2024 playlist! Rolling Stone magazine describes him as ‘an emblem of the rise of Afrobeat on the international scene’. The singer is also known for his commitment to social justice and is a strong supporter of the #EndSARS movement, which campaigns against police violence in Nigeria.
