A French-Rwandan woman raised in Addis Ababa, Jocelyne Muhutu-Remy was exposed to the continent's major challenges at an early age thanks to her mother, who was a secretary at the Organisation of African Unity. Her career, which took her from journalist at Reuters to head of strategic partnerships at Facebook, propelled her to the top of the media and entertainment industry. A staunch pan-Africanist, she has headed Spotify for Sub-Saharan Africa since November 2021 with a clear mission: to amplify African voices and make digital music accessible. In doing so, she is combining her pan-African commitment and desire to transform the continent's music and cultural industry with the profitability requirements of a major international platform.
