The first Ivorian to graduate with a degree in artificial intelligence, Fatim Cissé founded DUX in 2018 with a clear mission: making digital technologies more accessible to African businesses. The company provides organisations across the continent with digital transformation services, as well as training in AIand cybersecurity. Cissé’s ambition is to establish DUX as Africa’s leading AI company through an approach that is both creative and deeply rooted in local realities. Despite Africa’s current challenges in developing its AI ecosystem, she remains resolutely optimistic. She points to the continent’s proven capacity for leapfrogging—the technological leap demonstrated by the rapid adoption of mobile telephony in the 2000s—as evidence that Africa can once again accelerate its development. According to Cissé, DUX is “approached daily by young Africans who have very good ideas” — people who “simply need support”.
