A true child of ‘Babi’ (short for Abidjan) born into a family of artists – a producer and pianist father and a choreographer mother – Didi B stylishly embodies the rise of hip-hop and urban music in Côte d'Ivoire. With his feisty lyrics, impressive stage presence and polished aesthetic, Bassa Zéréhoué Diyilem, his real name, had nurtured the dream of a career in music since childhood. At the age of just three, he'd already been spotted in a Meiway music video. In 2009, he made a name for himself with the collective Kiff No Beat, an iconic name on the Ivorian rap scene. Ten years later, he embarked on his solo career with the track ‘Assinie’, a nod to the famous beach in the economic capital. And the hits just kept coming. The album Mojo Trone that he co-produced with 92i, French rapper Booba's label, exceeded 50 million streams and won a Gold Disc in July 2023. In April 2025, he reached a milestone with Diyilem & Bazarhoff: Genius, a 21-track double album featuring a mix of hip-hop, trap and Afro-urban music. It's an innovative, socially engaged sound that explores hybrid territories between Ivorian traditions and the contemporary global trap scene. On 3 May 2025, Didi B made history by becoming the first Ivorian urban artist to fill the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Stadium in Abidjan, with more than 30,000 spectators. It was a crowning achievement for the man who has become the symbol of an entire generation.
