This Cameroonian strives for the liberation of art and advocates multiculturalism.

A writer, curator, art teacher and doctor of biotechnology and biophysics, Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung is such a major figure on the global art scene that he has been appointed curator of the 36th São Paulo Biennale, to be held in 2025. Born in Yaoundé in 1977, from the age of 20 he studied at Germany's Technical University of Berlin. In 2009, he founded Savvy Contemporary – The Laboratory of Form-Ideas, an independent, non-commercial project space for international visual and performing artists and curators, which he also directs. His plural vision of contemporary art, his approach at the intersection of art and science, and his promotion of a militant culture have opened the doors to world-renowned events such as Documenta 14 (Kassel, Germany/Athens, Greece), Dak'Art, the Venice Biennale, not to mention the Rencontres de Bamako. His role on the Berlin cultural scene, rewarded with a medal of the Order of Merit, led to his appointment as head of the prestigious House of World Cultures (HKW) in 2023, through which he works to present the diversity of contemporary creation with a focus on non-European cultures.
