She is undoubtedly the most remarkable musical phenomenon of the last ten years. Since 2018 and the release of her hit song ‘Djadja’ (which exceeded one billion views on YouTube on 25 February), this 29-year-old Malian, originally from Bamako and raised in Aulnay-sous-Bois in the suburbs of Paris, has taken social media and the international charts by storm. Last year, she racked up a total of 6 billion streams on Spotify and Deezer. She embodies unfettered femininity and proudly celebrates her bicultural heritage. Hailed as a symbol of integration during her performance with the Republican Guard choir at the Paris Olympics, she sparked a wave of hatred from the far right. But her style, the way she reinvents language, her flow and her talent fascinate and inspire young people around the world. She has established herself as one of the true global bosses of new music.
